Ohio State Law Journal

The Ohio State Law Journal is now open for submissions. During the submissions cycle, we will seek to fill our Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 volumes. Thank you for your interest in publishing with the Ohio State Law Journal.

The Journal only accepts submissions electronically via Scholastica. We look forward to reading your work.

For all submissions, please include a cover letter with your contact information, including your email address. Please also include a CV with your submission. Decisions regarding publication offers will be given primarily through Scholastica’s decision and e-mail system.

The Ohio State Law Journal tends to publish articles by faculty members and judges. However, we are happy to consider articles by practitioners and students. We only accept scholarly articles of national interest. We do not generally publish practitioner-oriented articles, articles of only state or local interest, or book reviews. Because we receive more than 1000 submissions each year, we are forced to turn down many fine articles. The best time to send an article is usually in early February.

Expedited Review

After submitting your article, if you receive a competing offer for your article and you remain interested in publishing with the Ohio State Law Journal, we would be happy to oblige your expedited review request to the best of our ability. Simply provide us with information regarding the competing offer, and we will contact you prior to the expiration of that offer if we are able to give you an offer of publication. When making an expedited review request, please include your name, your article’s title, the deadline date – preferably at least two weeks notice – and the name of the journal or review that made you the offer.

Withdrawing Your Article

If you have accepted an offer to publish elsewhere or if for any other reason you wish to withdraw your article from our consideration, please give us notice as soon as possible.
